The intervention measures
The objectives envisaged in the Gargano LDP are accomplished through the Measures. "AXIS I, integrated, pilot and sustainable local rural development strategies" comprises the following measures.
- Measure 1.1 "Management of the GAL and enlivenment of the territory": the aim is to put into effect the most qualified tools to bear the costs and assist the GAL process from a technical/administrative point of view.

Measure 1.2, "Sostegno al sistema produttivo", prevede azioni rivolte a sostenere il sistema produttivo. Si articola in tre interventi:
- Action A farming. Its objective is to enhance the value of the niche agricultural products that distinguish the Gargano area most.
- Action B: SMEs. Through such action, the GAL aims to assist part of the local businesses involved in traditional handicraft and artistic activities, or activities that exploit local resources.
- Action C: Tourism. The action aims to increase rural tourism and diversify the offering, in order to unbind the area from seasonal tourism, re-routing the flows inland, not only along the coast.

Measure 1.3 Services to the production system. This is one of the pillars of the GAL strategy: its aim is to create a product certification system through a local brand. The Measure revolves around four lines of action:
- Action A: Umbrella brand. The aim is to create a local brand synergic to the quality system developed by the Gargano National Park and guarantee typical local products.
- Action B: Business certification. Tenders will be called for businesses who intend to have their productive and environmental systems certified.
- Action C: Innovative marketing. Efforts will be made to expand the sales network by delocalizing markets through e-commerce.
- Action D: Business information. Grants will be awarded to set up business information desks on financial instruments and EU regulations. The aim is to tie the quality of certain local products to the image of the Gargano territory and seek innovative ways for their marketing.

Measure 1.4 Natural and cultural resources. Its aim is to create a cultural and environmental system capable of better integrating the local assets and resources. It revolves around five lines of action:
- Action A: Promotion of the territory. The aim is to implement and put in place an integrated tourism plan.
- Action B: Schedule of events. The aim is to prepare a common schedule of the traditional festivals and events, in order to spread knowledge of the typical agro-food production and handicraft.
- Action C: Management of Trails. Rather than creating new trails, the aim will be to manage and improve existing ones.
- Action D: Tourism Information Points. The aim is to set up tourism information spots scattered across the territory.
- Action E: Cuisine and handicraft itineraries. This involves the awarding of grants to public or private entities who intend to promote the territory by creating specific itineraries in the GAL municipalities.
- Measure 1.5 Local services in support of the rural population. Its aim is to support populations living in high depopulation risk areas, and its main objective is to improve the quality of living of resident populations. The Measure develops along a single plan of action: Services to populations living in marginal rural areas: the aim is to counter the risk of abandonment of territories located in unfavourable positions with respect to the main physical links existing on the promontory. The Measure will guarantee local services in support of the rural population, action in favour of trade, public transport, social activities in support of children and the young, and leisure time activities.

Measure 1.6 Development and re-qualification of human resources. Its aim is to increase the knowledge and skills of employed workers, favour access to the labour market of local populations and facilitate the transfer of professional skills among generations engaged on the territory. The measure develops along four lines of action:
- Action A: Environment. It aims at providing the population with information and formation on landscape culture.
- Action B: Old Crafts. The aim is to help artisans and youngsters who intend to pursue such activities in recuperating handicraft techniques.
- Action C: Animal husbandry and agricultural operators. The aim is to organize highly-specialized vocational training activities for animal husbandry and agricultural operators.
- Action D: English and IT knowledge through e-learning. The action will focus on the organization of e-learning activities to help operators get acquainted with English, tourist German and IT knowledge.
- Measure I Inter-territorial cooperation - Dissemination of typical products through the integrated promotion of local products and reception services. Its aim is to strengthen the local development process the Gargano LDP intends to lay the foundations of by enhancing the value of territorial resources.
- Measure II Transnational Cooperation, European Network for the enhancement of the value of typical rural landscapes", and Wine & Food Transnational Cooperation: a transnational bank of traditional products"; as far as the Network is concerned, its aim is the study and research on typical landscapes, as well as the exchange of knowledge. Instead, for Food & Wine, the Measure aims to start up certification processes for typical local products, and showcase the products and their preparation through a common website.
